Terrara Park Pavilion
When working with Building Engineering on a project for Whitehorse City Council at Terrara Park Pavilion, the wall tiling works are designed to provide a durable, hygienic, and low-maintenance finish suited to a public facility. Wall tiles installed to full height in wet areas and showers to toilets and accessible amenities. This ensures surfaces are resistant to moisture, staining, and frequent cleaning, while also maintaining a consistent and professional appearance throughout the space.
The installation is carried out on properly prepared wall substrates, which are lined, levelled, and primed prior to tiling. In wet zones, a compliant waterproofing membrane is applied in accordance with relevant standards to prevent moisture ingress behind the tiles. Tiles are laid with consistent joint spacing and alignment, often coordinated with fixtures such as partitions, basins, and mirrors to achieve a clean, symmetrical layout. Durable adhesives are used to ensure strong bonding, and grout—selected for its resistance to mould, moisture, and cleaning chemicals—is applied evenly to create a sealed, easy-to-maintain surface.
Particular attention is given to detailing at junctions and terminations. Internal corners, wall-to-floor junctions, and penetrations around plumbing fixtures are sealed with flexible sealant to accommodate movement and prevent cracking. Tile edges are finished with trims or capping where required, especially at exposed ends, to ensure safety and longevity. Overall, the wall tiling works contribute significantly to the functionality and durability of the amenities, supporting long-term performance in a high-use community environment.
